Confusion – The Album Launch Party

Colombian rock chick Fatiniza unveiled her debut album 'Confusion' at Alpha Club last Wednesday evening to an impressive turn out of fans, music lovers and industry folk. Fatiniza gave us all a night to remember and set new levels for local bands wishing to break into the local music scene.

In true Fatiniza style, she set out to impress everyone that turned out for the launch and started by turning up the heat with a trio of fire-dancers at the entrance of the club. Once inside, among the buzz of excitement and DJ spun tunes, one had the feeling of being at show rather than just another gig.

Weaving their thru the anticipated fans waiting for Fatiniza to appear were several towering stilt walkers dressed in brightly colored carnival attire.
As you looked up at the stilt walkers something else caught your eye. Running on a loop on two huge high level screens was the music video for 'Out of Control' Fatiniza's first single from her Debut Album.

As show time drew near, the crowd in Alpha had swelled to near capacity and there really was an air of excitement as Fatiniza had remained elusive all night. Activity could be seen on the stage as sound techs and members of the band ran through their final checks. The stage set up was pretty impressive too, extended to take the 8 piece band and just off either side of the stage were two towering moving head light rigs.

Then the lights went out, the DJ shut down his desk and to a large round of applause a guitar screamed out a lead solo from the stage to open the show. In front of the stage a group of neon dancers had gathered and were working their way through a choreographed routine.

The lead dropped into the opening riff of 'Babe Come On' and was quickly joined by the rest of the band as the lights went up and the neon dancers disappeared. From nowhere, Fatiniza emerged with the prowess of a seasoned professional, dressed all in black with her signature hot pants.
All eyes were on Fatiniza as she strutted back and forth across the stage ripping through every track on her new album and a couple of her favorite covers.
Fatiniza knew just how to work the crowd with her energetic diva-like performance. On several of her songs, two couples joined her on stage performing beautifully crafted routines that complimented the mood of the songs.

This was a real show, and you were captivated for a whole hour as the performance was seamless. Drum and bass fills between songs kept the momentum going and even when the set went acoustic for 'Hard to be your Woman', the emotion and power in her vocals kept you riveted.
There was plenty to look at on stage. A special 8 piece band for the launch comprised of two electric guitars, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, Latin Conga, 1 female backing vocalist and Fatiniza herself. With the additional performers that night the total entourage was 15 strong. After an introduction of the band and a long thank you list, Fatiniza closed of the show with her single ‘Out of Control’ to rapturous applause and cries for more. She encored with the Rock/Asian fused Fortune Teller before drawing a close to the night and mingling among fans and friends.
